What You Must Know about Your Dog’s Cough

If severe, it may include depression, fever, and a thick yellow or green nasal discharge. Your dog may act lethargic and not eat. However, in mild cases, most dogs will appear fairly normal and have a regular appetite and energy.

It is fairly common and is a respiratory system infection. This is brought on by an inflammation of the windpipe and air passages. It symptoms usually appear about a week after your dog is introduced to the illness. Many dogs contract it after visiting the veterinarian or staying in a dog shelter.

It usually last one to three weeks and can be treated at home if mild. If you think your dog is displaying severe, contact your vet immediately. It is extremely contagious between animals and can be fatal or lead to pneumonia if severe symptoms are ignored. You should also isolate your dog from any other pets as soon as you feel that they may have this condition.
